You can also see that I have my hamock laid out getting to put it up so I got a place to reflect, (Take a nap)

I found a 3ft x 4ft formica counter top that I will turn into my art bench.

It was 75deg today, so guess where I went. Did I hear sailing?

Berry Nice

This is amazing!
The Babe took a handfuls of branches and berries and all of the sudden had this kitchen wreath.
Berry Nice

Well! When she had the wreath she continued on and used it to decorate the newly built kitchen. Now this is pretty artsy. Create a piece for a specific spot.
Berry Nice

Now I think this is really cool!
I have mowed brambles that looked just like this. Well ,maybe not just. I think they were poison ivy .

In any big city in the world, you can drive down the street on garbage day and see all kind of artsy crafty projects that are headed to the dump.
I guess that's the trouble with art, it will end up in the dump if you don't display it.

Make of it, what you will.

All of the sizing and painting is done but when the paper was unrolled, blank! bleep! blank! XX****#####. Those blanking ###** UPS people, those bleeping ####****wallpaper people.

Well evidently some where in the handling, the edge's on all of the roll's got bunged up. But this would would be just like always, you know, the dookie is in the fan, after hours or on weekends.

So! I say again,
MONDAY MORNING WILL BE NO PICNIC!!!!!!

Now I am not easly startled, but when I am, my arms and legs shoot straight up in the air. This not normaly a problem but this time, you can see the results.

I kicked the table, over went the cup and the Biscotti arched high in the air. Quickly thinking that I can make another cup of tea but who wants to eat a Biscotti covered in lint and dog hair. I made a dive for the Biscotti, which was saved from a furry fate.

This time the tea went into a child proof cup and the day was saved.

Bad Day

Did you ever have one of those days? You know the one's where you spill the coffee grounds all over the place and where the dog bracks on the carpet and where the pipes freeze and it just goes on all day long.

Well mine started off where the ubs card reader quit. So now I cant post any pictures. Then the printer ran out of ink. Both of these thing are not so big but since we live in the country, it is a major trip to get what we need.

When we went to get the computer stuff we stopped to get the taxes done. Well now we are screwed. If we got something we needed for the money, it wouldn't be so bad.

I was so depressed that I couldn't eat ice cream.

Ok, Ok I have got to get past this. Nothing happened over night so I should be able to get on with it. The weather will be above 60 today and I will stop in and get the card reader before I go sailing.

I am pretty pleased with the way this came out. The lights and exhaust fan are just right and the soffet cover just sets the whole thing off.

Now the Babe has got to do the decorating. I beleive that she has some kind of a faux finish planned for the sw and outlet covers.

With this project behind me I spent some time working on the barn yesterday. Kind of cold, but good to get out. I started to look at the before of the unfinished fireplace. May have to start thinking of doing that. The hardest thing is to get the idea for the direction. Once you figure out what it is going to look like, it's just the work then.

I rounded up all my tools and started to finish the trim for the new tile in the kitchen. Working in the garage where it stays about 40deg. even when it is 7deg. outside. If I can get all of the inside work done it will make the real sunny day that much better. Itching to get working on the barn and sailing again.

Two for Two

After my experience of last night I have been a little spooked. When I went to bed the threat of the night before was on my mind.
I settled in for a good night and did finally drift off.
I awoke as usual and it was really dark. There was absolutly no light in the room. Huh! It must be cloudy.

I lay there, looking around to see if the giant specter was lurking. It looks like I have cheated death again.

Lets get up and walk a bit and look out to see what the scarecrow is up to. Well! When I started to throw back the covers I realized that something was terribly wrong. Me, being right handed tried to use my right hand on the covers. Nothing! When I say nothing, I mean nothing happened. OK, OK I bet my hand and arm are asleep, that's it. Use the other arm dummy! Back go the covers. OH MY GOD! I only have one arm. Not only do I only have one arm, I only have one sleeve in my PJ's. One sleeve being neatly tucked in.

Now I am starting to sweat and immediately started to think about the possibilities.

I used to be a pirate and lost the arm in a sword fight and can't remember because of the cannon ball that hit me in the head. Get Real!

I have alzheimer's and only remember anything, part of the time. Yikes!

I was in a terrible accident and have been in a comma for who knows how long. Months, years, decades? OH MY GOD!

Oh come on get real, get a grip!

I lay there trying to figure out what to do. Well I better get a hold of this disability or I am done for.

But then the strangest thing happened. I thought I could feel my hand. I have heard about a person who lost a limb could still feel the missing part. No! I think this is real.
What's going one here?
I started to thrash around and found that the missing limb was not gone at all. Some how in my sleep I had pulled my arm and PJ sleeve inside my PJ's.

When I got the arm and PJ's figured out I decided that the visit from the spirit was not the worst thing that could happen.

Cheated death again!

Bump in the Night

Freaked
Originally uploaded by stogscrow.
Normally, night holds no terror for me but this time was different.
I usually get up several times, to stretch, bathroom, whatever. Something is always hurting, back, neck, hips, well you get it. When I get up I always take the opportunity to look out the window and see if the stars are shining, see what the moon is doing and make sure that Scarecrow isn't cutting up.

Thats just what I did.
It was a full moon, so I could see real good. The scarecrow wasn't making a fool of himself. When I moved from the window I turned toward the door and there right in my path was an extremly frighting spirit. I was scared to death. My arms went up, my mouth opened, IIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Well, thats what I thought I saw.

What actually happened was that I got up and looked out the window and the Babe got up on the other side of the bed at the exact same time. When I turned around she was standing there in the moon light in her light colored PJ's IIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

It aint easy being me.

Preface to a Sunrise

What you will be seeing in the next moment is the first attempt to water color in over 20 years. This attempt is like a dot picture that is viewed from too close. To get the best representation this picture should be viewed from across the street. Preferably a busy one. I kind of used Rise and Shine for a model. Surprisingly, my 20 year old paints did not contribute badly. Burnt Umber did not resemble water color so it is history.

Rise and Shine

Rise and Shine
Originally uploaded by stogscrow.
This looks like a forest fire but that is not even close. Last night was down to about 19deg and the sun is starting early to get things warmed up.

I finished cutting the tile for the kitchen but had to put hot water in the tile saw so I could hold the tiles. As soon as I can grout the tiles I will post the after picture.

The rock paintings have stired my creative juices. I searched high and low to find my water color paints. Found them, caps were stuck. I guess thats what 20 years will do. Since the creative juices have always been pretty watery I thought that water color would be the way to go.

Burning Ban

Originally uploaded by stogscrow.
I have got all of this really choice brush and downed timber that I have been burning and cutting for fire wood. But now there is an official burning ban in place. We havent gotten any rain for ever and almost every day someones trash fire sets the world on fire and burns up the chicken coops.

So for now I have to be content with getting the stuff piled up so I will be ready when we get some rain.

I have been working on the kitchen tile work and am almost complete. There are also many rocks to paint up for the rock garden. I got some art pencil's and a little sketch book so when I see somthing good I can get it on paper.

The scarecrow is looking so bad that I thought I might try to get him a new head. I got 2 yards of burlap which should work pretty good. I got the idea of the berlap from the movie, Bat Man the Begining. The arch villain had a burlap head mask. We will see what happens.

Siver bells and cockel shells
and one damn eggplant.

The weather here is great for gardening. Plenty of sun and no rain. The soil is a little rocky but who's keeping track.

Painting on these sandstone rocks is great. There is no drying time, since they soak up the paint, thinking it's water.

I found a suitable rock and painted this flower. I then took the rock and palanted it outside our kitchen window.

Since we have plenty of rocks, paint and time I thought that I could make a whole garden of rocks.

This morning things went south. The coffee pot must have been frozen so when things started to happen they happened all over the place.

I was forced into a Cup O Tea while the Babe took pity and cleaned up the machinery.

All of this occurance slowed the construction.

Mo Da Ya

Back Yard
Originally uploaded by stogscrow.
In another life I was the Boss working man. I was in charge of the loudest voice. I worked at a computer and was the voice of reason in an insane situation.

Now one of the things that I really liked was opening the gate. I had a window on my computer that displayed the gate. I could talk to the person requiring entry. That was a position of power.

I have to admit that I had a favorite client. This client was the lawn service. These rattley old trucks with lawn mowers would show up and ring the bell.

I would look at the computer screen and smile. "Yes, who is it?"

The answer comes back "Mo Da Ya"
None of these guys could speak any English.

I say "Mo Da What?"
They say "Mo Da Ya"
I say "Oh Mo Da Ya" And let them in. No telling how many years this went on.

This is a picture looking from the barn to the house. You can see we wont have to worry about Mo Da Ya,
for quite a while.

Freaked Out

I am, How you say? FREAKED OUT!

When I was a little kid, my mom would make me hot chocolate that was SOOO Good. Not long ago I attempted to duplicate the experience. This I fear, was a dismal failure. Now the Babe came up with a recipe that would give me a good cup of hot chocolate. She was right and it was good. I read all of the testimonials that came with the recipe and was convinced that If some little kid could make the stuff and his grandmother was pleased with the experience, that I could do the deed.

I was wrong! I mixed up the stuff, which immediately turned into something that resembled a snotty Bon Bon. I had to admit to the Babe that I couldn't get along without her and begged to be saved from myself.
